Lobbyist Regulation
Lobbyists in San Francisco are regulated by two separate ordinances. The San Francisco Lobbyist Ordinance, S.F. Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code Sections 2.100, et seq., regulates lobbyists who attempt to influence City officers on local legislative or administrative action on behalf of private parties. The San Francisco Sunshine Ordinance, S.F. Admin. Code Section 67.29-4, regulates lobbyists who are retained by the City to lobby on behalf of the City at the local, state, regional or federal levels. Lobbyists regulated by the Sunshine Ordinance are called "Lobbyists on Behalf of the City."

View Lobbyist Filings and Records
Lobbyist forms are filed on paper and recorded in a database viewable on the Ethics Commission web site. The lobbyist filings are integrated with the Ethics Commission's campaign finance database. To search for lobbyist filings, use the "Search by Name" option to search for the name of the filer. Alternatively, you can monitor recent lobbyist filings by using the "Search Filings by Date" option and check "Search Lobbyists Only".
Forms are scanned after they are processed and attached to the records in the database. Filings that have been scanned have a "View" link next to the record in the database. Scanned forms are in PDF format. Filings that have not yet been scanned are marked as "Visit Office" and can be viewed in the Ethics Commission's office during regular business hours from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
