Nutrition, fitness, treatment and prevention of chronic health conditions, cardiovascular disease along with mental health are all serious issues, but learning how to deal with them is empowering. It will be fun, too, on Saturday October 26, 2013, from 10 am to 2 pm when the Southeast Community Facility serves up healthy food, health care advice, children’s gardening activities, entertainment and more at its 6th Annual Family Health Fair.
The Health Fair is a family-oriented event organized by the Southeast Community Facility Commission in partnership with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, UCSF/Dental& Medical School, Department of Public Health, San Francisco Unified School District, Red Cross, Think Round, Inc. and many businesses, community-based organizations, and concerned citizens from Bayview Hunters Point.
“Obesity, diabetes and asthma can be stopped if our families and community stand together,” stated Commissioner Louise C. Jones, organizing committee member.
People living in Bayview Hunters Point live on average 14 fewer years than those who live on Russian Hill, according to www.HealthMattersinSF.org.
The Southeast Community Facility is located at 1800 Oakdale Ave. For more information, contact Mr. Francis Starr or Ms. Eleanore Fernandez at 415.821.1534.
