Reducing Pests and Pesticides in San Francisco Housing Authority Developments
The San Francisco Department of the Environment is currently partnering with Task Force Environmental Committee members and the San Francisco Housing Authority to promote more effective pest prevention methods with less reliance on pesticides in two Housing Authority developments in the southeast sector of the city. Exposure both to pests such as cockroaches and to several pesticides is linked to causing respiratory problems such as worsened asthma symptoms and to causing individuals to newly develop asthma.

Reducing Particulates in Homes Adjacent to Busy Roadways
The San Francisco Department of Public Health Environmental Health is currently partnering with Task Force Environmental Committee members and the Mayor's Office of Housing to promote improved indoor air quality by increased filtration of particulate from busy roadways in the southeast sector of the city. Exposure to roadway traffic pollution such as particulates is linked to causing respiratory problems such as worsened asthma symptoms and to causing individuals to newly develop asthma. These exposures are also linked to causing cardiovascular disease and premature death.
